The Future of Humanitarian Response

Explore a topic that fits within the theme of the future of security in 2040 by scanning, analyzing, and developing scenarios.

The Project

  • Uncovered external signals that showcase world events, stories and news that affect or could affect humanitarian response and organizations like the Canadian Red Cross

  • Through a workshopping session, my team and I used the Future Wheel Method to distill the signals into trends and implications

  • Mapped implications on a timeline to see when capstone events would happen to make our scenarios plausible

  • Utilizing the VERGE Method helped us answer key questions to visualize our scenarios, and then we used the 2X2 Method to understand the critical uncertainties we would focus on

The Process

  • Developed future scenarios depicting plausible events and changes that showcase what the world would look like in relation to our topic

  • Orchestrated an immersive experience that exhibited how life would be in our Normative Future

  • Created a strategy for the Canadian Red Cross that proposed a plan that ensured no Canadian would face disaster alone by anticipating, softening, and preventing emergencies with resilience tools and real-time response readiness systems
